The hotel

The Panama Hotel is a historic building, and its rooms differ from one another.

• The Garden Room is our accessible room: on the ground floor, with a queen bed, a stall shower and French doors to a large gated patio.
• Ground-floor rooms also include Mimi’s Bungalow, Maria’s Pueblo, Lady Bracknell and the Captain’s Room.
• The Venetian Room, Rosie’s Room, Ken’s Safari Room and the Honeymoon Room are upstairs.
• Several rooms have claw-foot tubs, which have a high side. Rooms with a stall shower are noted on each room’s page.

Please request an accessible room when you book — we cannot hold one otherwise.

If you have a specific requirement — step-free access to the restaurant or the patio, a bed height, the distance from the street — please call us on (415) 457-3993 before booking. We would much rather tell you honestly what we can do than have you arrive to a room that does not work.

Parking is on the street beside the hotel; there is no hotel car park.

Service animals

Service animals are welcome throughout the hotel.

This website

The site is built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA:

• Text and backgrounds are measured for contrast. The brand’s coral, yellow and teal are used as decoration where they would not pass, and darker measured shades carry the text.
• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip straight to the content.
• Forms have no CAPTCHA, and every field has a visible label.
• The site works without JavaScript. The one thing that needs it is the cookie choice, because the tags it controls cannot load without JavaScript either.
• The cookie choice is not a pop-up that blocks the page. It sits at the bottom of the screen, does not trap your keyboard, and gives Accept and Reject equal weight.
• Motion respects your system setting: if you have asked your device to reduce motion, transitions are switched off.
• The site does not use an accessibility overlay widget. It is built to work with the assistive technology you already use.
